qualification on property mgr.

Chrissy,
My property manager is resigning and I will be hiring someone to replace her. I would like to have some ideas on an ad for the paper. What are the qualifications for a property manager that would assure me that I will hire someone who can do the job proficiently? Can you help me with this?

I would look for someone who exemplifies great customer service skills. After all, the only thing that differentiates you and your community from every other community is the level of personal interaction your manager has with your customers. Retirees are great, if there is not a lot of physical exercise. A lot of what goes into the actual skill set you require depends on your property management structure. Do they use a computer? How many homesites are there? Will they be selling homes? Do they have to have a license in your area to do that? Will they earn extra money from sales commissions? What skills in addition to customer service do you want them to have? All walks of life can provide you with great candidates . . . beauticians, waitresses, waiters, convenience store clerks with great attitudes, construction people . . . sometimes there is a solution right in front of you. I urge caution about hiring a resident. You are turning over a lot of confidential information about all the other residents to them, so this could backfire on you. Or, could be one of the best things you have ever done. What to put in an ad? How about . . . If you love people, believe in providing professional customer service, and have previous management experience, please contact . . .
