Starting a retail lot

Post by Tracy Mason » Mon Mar 24, 2003 1:14 am

How hard is it to start a retail sales lot with no inventory. Sales, setup and sets being already covered. Just wanting to know what red tape I would need to overcome, or where to start in a new leg of an existing manufactured home service/repair business.

Thanks for any advise

Each state has different laws - I would recommend contacting your state manufactured housing association. And - - as you mention the bases you already have covered, I don't see financing. That is one of the biggest hurdles today in the industry - at both the wholesale and retail level.

Timesw are very tough right now....Before you start a sales lot..you might want to go to work for one to find out the challanges that currently face the industry..While you are learning...earning I hope..the industry will be getting though this tough time and will be better able to handle new dealerships...
