Due diligence is what real-estate investors call the investigation of a property prior to purchase. An emotionless investigation is even more critical to home buyers as purchasing a home will for most of us be the most significant investment of our lives. You need to take the time and learn as much as you can to make an educated decision.

The list of things to watch for can be endless... but you can get a good start by browsing these forums. You will find the largest collection of questions and expert answers on manufactured housing available anyplace. Use the search feature at the top of the page to focus in on any particular aspect.

You can also take advantage of our huge (and free) archive of articles on BUYING

For a great jump start to your education with very low tuition take a look at The Complete Buyers Guide to Manufactured Homes and Land by John Grissim.

This book is a comprehensive resource guide for MH Shoppers that explains just how the manufactured home industry operates, how to find a dealer worthy of your trust, how to make the right home selection, and, as important, how to be informed so you can make the right decisions. How to determine the fair price of a home. Smart negotiating tactics, (what not to disclose) and even Deal terms you need to insist be in writing

To get a good outline of what you better understand PRIOR to signing your name see the full list of topics covered in the Grissim Guide .

It is a good idea to get financing quotes from more than one source. Let the lenders compete for your business. If your credit is good you will find the best deal by searching through what is available in your market.

One of the best ways to do this is via the Manufactured Housing Loan Finder This is a free service. You submit ONE form with your contact information and the participating lenders, doing business in your area will call you to discuss the possibilities.

Get exact amounts, including down payment and monthly payment quotes from multiple lenders. Comparison shop for manufactured housing loans in your state or across the country. Find the one that works best for you and lock in today's low rates now! As inflation continues to heat up the Fed will try to cool it off with higher rates so this is a VERY good time to lock in a commitment.

There is no minimum credit requirement to use this service. We have loan providers in our network experienced in working with a variety of consumer credit histories. Rates and terms offered are determined solely by each individual lender and will likely vary depending on your particular credit history, income and other qualifications.
