I am trying to figure out how to register a mobile home - I have been told it can be registerd as a vehicle w/DMV or that it could be considered "personal property" Does anyone have insight on this?

If you home is classified as "personal property" then in most states it must be registered with the DMV and annual license fees paid just like a car.

If your home is classified "real property" in most states your manufactured home is considered a fixture on your land and taxed as real-estate.

Here in Florida all new manufactured homes must be registered with the DMV and then the owners can apply for a real property status.

Contact the local DMV to find out how your state handles manufactured housing registrations.
