Shopping for New Home, A few questions....

Currently considering selling my 5 Acres with a 1997 Sunshine DW. Been window shopping feeling out the Market......

I am amazed at the number of lots that have dissappeared since my last purchase.

But I am surprised (pleasantly) at the quality I saw in some of the units. But I need some experienced input on a few of the players.

Palm Harbor: Most "bling" very nice house at the upper end of my price range.

ScotBilt: Again nice House at a reasonable price, but where are they "cutting corners" to offer the finish of their interiors? Is it in the floor Joists?

Horton "BOSS", again a blingy type of home, but offers a nice layout

Cavilier Home Builders (offered by Oasis Homes) Offers a 9'-0" Wall?

Am I missing any major vendors in the mid to lower high end price spectrum?

I am in the CSRA near Aiken Sc
thanks John

Probably the most important observation you have made..is the number of dealers who have crashed and burned..I am in the CSRA at Palm Harbor in Augusta....I have worked on Gordon Hwy for over 10 years..I have seen 26 dealers come and go..There are a few more on the edge now....Truth is who you buy from is probably more important than which home you buy..The only factory direct product you have mentioned is PH...No middleman....Come by our location in Augusta..And lets talk about value..and the total cost of a home..Price..warranty (quality of materials)...energy features and savings...interest cost of your home mortgage...all contribute to cost...

Call or stop by soon and ask for Bob..

Bob, I stopped by Saturday. Liked the products I saw, but didnt like having to produce so much personal info ( Salesman copied my drivers license) just to see a home.

I wish you would have asked for me...All the others here are new and still strictly in the learning curve..Please call for more information... He should only have drivers license if you gave him a credit application...I hope he gave you good info about PH..
