Golden West Homes

What is the future for Golden West Homes? I was all set to buy one when GWH's was bought out. Since then two different dealers that I've been in contact with have stopped dealing with GWH. One said he has no intention to sell them again and the other saying he will wait to see if GWH continues to exist. It seems that the dealers are afraid of getting stuck with full liability and responsibility for any GWH they sell if there isn't going to be any factory support, or even a factory!
This does not bode well for the mobile home industry as a whole. If all it takes to scare away dealer participatation is this, maybe I'd be better off going with stick built.

Golden West WAS part of the Oakwood family of plants..they went bankrupt..and the assets including Golden West were bought by Clayton Homes..

Clayton has little experience in building very high quality homes...Dealers might be worried that Clayton will change the product..There is NO chance Clayton will go out ofd business..They are owned by Bershire Hatthaway..One of the strongest investment companies in the country...Bersdhire ownes many everyday business we are all familier with..such as GIECO insurance..Fruit of the Loom, Shaw Carpets and score of others..Individual shares of Bershire sell for over $70,000 per share...A quality manufactured home has many advantages over stick bvuilt especially in high priced..CA..Good Luck
