I found a book at my local Borders the other day, unfortunately they need to special order this if I want it, and my local library does not yet have it either. The book is called Manufactured Homes; The Buyer's Guide: How to Realize Your Dream In a Manufactured Home. This book is by Steven Taylor. Unfortunately, I do not know if this is a new book, or when it was published. Has anyone out there seen it? Is it worth my time?

Hi, John...
Yes, I have a copy of Steven Taylor's book. As the author of The Complete Buyers Guide to MH & Land, I get every book or publication that competes with mine. I'm biased, of course, but, honestly, I'd have to give Taylor's book a C. It's got a lot of errors, is not particularly well-written, and assumes the reader has marginal credit and is going to need a lot of help from the dealer. That's a red flag to me.

Plus, he's got this very strange suggestion called a Client Introduction Sheet that you fill out with all kilnds of info, including your current rent or mortgage, how much you still owe on your mortgage -- in short, you're supposed to hand over this info sheet to the dealer and trust you'll be in good hands? Talk about being Charlie the Tuna!

My suggestion: spend a few extra bucks and download either my book or Randy Eatons. Both are better than Taylor's by a long shot. Best of luck!
John

Thanks for the advice..I've become something of a 'bookstore rat', hanging out at my local Borders or Barnes and Noble, just reading up on various topics with a coffee. Just wanted to know if I should request this book as it is not on their shelf. Apparently it's not a wise use of my time.

BTW.... Borders says that YOUR book is not in print......Is this really true?

John,
Not only that, but it's in its second printing. It's also 90 pages longer than Taylor's comparatively slim offering. J.
