New Single Wides
New Single Wides
I am looking to buy a new single wide in the oklahoma city area. Does anyone have an opinion on what would be my best option in this area. I have been to a few dealers and seen some homes that I like, but I am still not sure what would be best for me. Also, I reall need to stay under $35,000 for financial reasons, but I want a home that will not fall apart (i.e. good flooring material, shingle roof, vinyl or similar siding). I do not want anything smaller than a 16 x 80 3 bedroom 2 bath. Also, I am putting it on family land, so a land home package is not necessary. Is it even possible to get a home like I have described for less than $35,000 new? What manufacturers should I really consider? Which should I stear clear from? Any help would be greatly appreciated. This will be my first home and I don't want to get taken on a bad deal!
Re: New Single Wides
Amanda, I highly, highly recommend you start by getting the books by Randy Eaton, Kevin Burnside, and John Grissim and read them twice before you do anything else. They are well worth the $$ and can save you a lot of heartache. Randy's books will tell you what to look for in a quality home and also gives good information on different manufacturers. The other two books have excellent advice on how to spot good and bad dealers, gives excellent advise on financing, etc. While reading the books go to as many dealers as you can and look at what they have available and ask lots of questions but don't give them any financial or personal information until after you have read the books. Also, read this forum a couple of times a week and ask questions. My wife and I have been "researching" our retirement home for a cuple of years and will be ready to buy fairly soon. Happy hunting. By the way, there are several dealers here in Tulsa also so if you don't find what you are looking for in OKC you might find something here.

Hi ~ We are looking in Tulsa at doublewides. Do you have a recommendation on which dealer is the best? We really like the Skyline Homes. This website has really helped me alot in what to look for in a mobile home. Suggestions welcome here. Thanks!
Re: New Single Wides
My wife and I liked the Palm Harbor homes the best but we are looking for a doublewide. I think they have a couple of single wides on the lot. They are located on 129th E Ave just south of I-244. No matter who you decide to buy from, read the books first. I started whth Randy Eaton's books. I think it gives the most information on construction.
