I am a newbie to MH building/buying. How exactly does one go about setting up septic, excavation, driveway, water, clearing, foundation, etc.? Would I just find a good contractor and ask him how much he would charge for all of this and just let him do all the work? Or would this involve multiple sets of contractors with hundreds of phone calls to different people and municipalities? Is there a good website or a "How To" on MH building?

You have found the best web site in the industry..
In most areas you might want to get good advice from the dealer you are dealing with...
Often they will know of the better contractors in the area..with the best prices..often they will help you with every step of the way..sometimes they offer complete services themselves...
The lowest prices will be you acting as general contractor...but..because you do not know the industry..you will have the potential of problems...big problems..
Just the permitting process can be a nightmare...let a professional help you and things should go smooth...
Good Luck...Stop here often..ask as many questions that you have..
You might want to visit the bookstore here..there are good books available that can help save you thousands..and a lot of headache later...

My husband and I are doing the same thing here in Kansas, I was feeling very daunted with all the calls to contactors, (one even telling me that because we have a Mobile Home, that we would HAVE TO have seperate contractors for all the work), but after hundreds of calls and faxes later, I did finally find 2 general contractors that would do everything that we want for $45,800.00, that includes diveway, double garage, storm shelter etc and all the general work that goes with movivng a double wide mobile home onto land that has NOTHING there.
Good luck with your search for a contractor, I can tell you first hand let someone else do the worrying for you as far as the builing goes, your going to have enough to worry about in the future with lenders etc.
I hope you find a contractor soon.
