First off I'm new so sorry if these questions have been asked before.
I live in the SF bay area and housing is soooo expensive. My husband and I have been looking into buying a MH. It looks like in our area our only option would be to purchase an existing MH already set in a MH park.
The parks are nice but we are clueless as to what to look for and what questions to ask. What brand to look for or avoid.
I'm just amazed at the difference in price throughout the country. Here in the SF Bay area these homes, 1500 sq ft 3br 2ba (which is what we need) are going for around 150-170k, PLUS rent on the property which is anywhere from $600-800/mo.
Other than moving out of state or the Central Valley of CA, does anyone have any suggestions or advice?
Thanks in advance.
Rebecca

Rebecca,
I live in a MH in Clearlake Oaks but lived in Hayward before retiring and moving to Lake County. I would suggest that you purchase the book by Randy Eaton which is available at the bookstore link. I read the book and this forum to determine what home to buy.
They really stick it to you in the Bay Area. In our area $150-$170K would get you a home sitting on a fairly large lot.

Art is right. We bought a lot in Lucerne Ca.last year. For the price and a great MH home you could have payments for much less than the park rent. Just do your homework as everyone says. Buy the books and read these forums. You can always ask questions.Good Luck. PS. Art you answered a question for me in the past. I just found out how to send a direct email to you. More questions about the Clearlake area are in your email box.Thanks.
