After several months of looking at site built and MH, my husband and I have decided to purchase a new Palm Harbor DW, in a land/home deal. We decided on Model No. PHT364D8, which is a high-end model made in the Austin plant. We have decided on upgrading to the best thermal package (i.e., R41 insulation in ceiling, upgraded insulation in walls), and this particular model (at least how we ordered it) has the upgraded construction features. There are some "cosmetic" upgrades (ceramic tile in dining and bath), and we want a fireplace (which we traded out for the stainless steel appliance package). We are going with the hardipanel concrete siding, and will have hardipanel put on over the sides of the foundation. Our goal is to have an attractive home that feels substantial, which is permanently affixed to the land, to protect the value of our investment as much as possible.
With discounts and the extra features I figure us priced at about 8% below list.
