I read in Randy's book (which I have unfortunatly lost) that there are at least three different types of foundations. One was cement piers, one was cement runners, and the third was a cement slab. My questions are:
1. Are all three of these considered permanent foundations?
2. Which ones are the least and best?
3. Is there a significant cost difference between the least and best?
The home will be placed in central Alabama if region makes a differenc and will be a double wide about 2200 sq. ft.

All are considered a "permanent foundation"

The best for your area will depend on the soil content...most places concrete footers poured below the frost line (not too deep where you are)...24x24 inches..about 6 to 8 inches deep will do fine..

footers are the least expensive..runners a little more...poured floors deep enough to hold the weight is very expensive..and probably not needed..

Check with local dealer in your area for a referal to a good contractor..
