Hello all, been reading here for a while now, and was hoping you could give some advice. I know choosing the right sales center is one of the most important things that should be done. From some of the things I have read, contacting the BBB is one thing to check. Only thing is, the three dealers I am interested in are not listed on the web page of BBB.
Also read to talk to local lenders and ask about the centers,....no "local" lenders give loans in my area on MH'S.
What if I asked the dealer for references,..wouldn't it be easy to give me three of the family members names or friends phone numbers!? Or how could I find out whom they sold homes to?
I pretty much have the home narrowed down that I want, and don't want to make a mistake with the wrong dealer. So any help or advice anyone could give would be a great help.

From my experience with the BBB is they ar worthless. In order for them to report something it first must be reported to them which most people do not do and even than if the complaint is answered, not fixed, it is reported satisfactory. You are right about asking for references, thay are not going to give you the name of someone who is suing them or is unhappy. Ask for the location of two or so homes that are being set now, go look at them and see if the owners are there and interview them or take a tradesman with you to see what he/she thinks. A lot of the selection process is a gut feeling but do as much checking as you can.

It is hard to check a dealer...Even though you would expect references to be fixed...I would ask anyway..

Some of the best info in any area is available from the independent moving and set up crews in the area..They usually know most of the dealers....check the yellow pages and call a few and ask oppinions...

Best bets usually are with long time locally owned dealerships...The owners are members of the community and understand word of mouth advertising..
