I am being given a 2 acre parcel of land from a relative so that I can put a new manufactured home on it. I contacted two surveyers about surveying the 2 acres , it needs to be subdivided from a 23 acre parcel of land. For reasons that remain a mystery to me, as I have no experience with this....both surveyers quoted me about $3,500 for the survey and plat. I can not afford this....and I don't understand why it would cost that much. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?
I live in Virginia.

Most often a 2 acre survey would be a little less money...but...if the current 23 acre plat is old..they may feel they have to survey the whole 23 acres...then the 2...If so...The price is about right...
