The specs for our future house list "5/8" mobile home decking". I told them I wanted 3/4" OSB or plywood instead. I was told 2 things:

1) HUD code won't allow this (I know this is not true)
2) That mobile home decking is not the particleboard of old. A web search leads me to believe that it is indeed particleboard. Has something changed in this product so that it doesn't have the problems with water it used to?

This is a show stopper, but suspect there's just a communication problem which will turn out ok (ie, I get the upgrade). Just wanted to get my ducks in line.

You are one smart consumer reading the specs so carefully...

The press-board in this home IS the press-board mentioned on this site often...The warranty is void if the press-board gets in contact with moisture...

I would be very suspect of a salesperson who lies about the HUD code..I would assume they are very new and do not understand they sound pretty dumb...but...what else have they misinformed you on....

From what I have read here..there are few manufacturers out there that do not offer floor upgrades...Thankfully there are many to chose from..It is your responsibility to decide what you want in a home and find a manufacturer and dealer who will accommodate your desires..

Sorry for your bad experience...seems like this salesperson needs lessons in the HUD code and listening..It is much better to have this problem now than after you get your home..
