Does anyone have any preferences or complaints about these three manufacturers? Looking at Castle, Colony or Ritz-Kraft homes. I have Randy's books but not any info on these manufacturers. Looking to buy in northeast.

Castle Housing of Knox, Pa. has the best standard of building a MH as I can find. The fit and finish on over twenty-some taht I have seen is perfection. The materials in the floors, walls ceiling/roof are some of the best to be found. I only wish I had known this before I bought the MH that I have.

All the builders you speak of are good, might I suggest something that I would suggest to anyone confused about which home to buy. Look at the retailer selling the home.
Look at how the sales center is kept. If the center is well displayed and neat, are their service vans and other cars and trucks well kept? Is their service department in good order?
A good retailer will sell good homes and treat the customer right.
The company selling you the home is at least as important as thoes who make the home.

We bought a Colony and we just love it,we only had a couple very minor things that had to be fixed after it was set up.We did upgrade the insulation and had all Delta faucets put in.I would not change a thing about our home.Our house was built in Pa. and we live in NY.

Just curious Richard, which MH did you buy?

We have a Colony also and have no complaints, the few things that needed to be fixed were done quickly.

I made the mistake of buying a Skyline Corporation manufactured house. It came out of the Leola, PA. plant. I'll never trust anything from Skyline again. 34 months and nothing but problems including structural. The small things that were 'fixed' were done poorly, they refuse to repair the structural problem which basically tells me that Skyline does not have to follow the HUD Code.
