Opinion on Palm Harbor

Post by Helen » Mon Feb 24, 2003 11:15 am

I live in the Coastal Bend area of Texas not far from Corpus Christi, but more than likely will be relocating to the San Antonio area. In shopping and researching it seems that Palm Harbor homes keep rising to the top. Any opinions or experiences out there that can be shared?
Thanks...........................

Haven't bought yet but have looked at PH. They are a little expensive per foot but appears they make a good home. I have looked at the ones out of the Austin plant which is the higher end. I am also impressed with Fuquah, Karsten, Franklin and on the lower priced but good quality end Solitair. The exterior appearance of the PH is very nice, which pleases my wife but I look more at the construction end and they are OK but not top of the line. For the money Solitair has my vote.

My wife and I were looking at the PH's, but decided that they are way overpriced.
They do build a nice hom though.

Try looking at the Patriot series available for your area. Compare the construction,
and you might find something you like. The Pinnacle series is the one we now
have our eye on, and they build a very good home in Alabama.

good luck

Be afraid---be very afraid. Palm Harbor gave us a price on a home. When we made the deposit, we were given a "Purchase Memo." When we went to our lender, Palm Harbor refused to send the contract. Our lender was told that Palm Harbor needed $5000 more to make any money on the deal. Since that time I have found several other potential Palm Harbor home buyers with the same story. I would be happy to provide names of the sales staff and location of the Palm Harbor location where we "bought" our home to interested persons. We did NOT purchase a Palm Harbor home!
