Hello faceless messageboard people:). Soon to be 1st time home buyer here, inexperienced but learning:P I was wondering if anyone here knew methods for looking into the reputation of MH Communities in Michigan without actually going door-to-door (with the possibility of being tazered;P) and asking the residents in them? I've done a considerable ammount of web browsing and short of the BBB I can't find anything that follows how Community mMnagement treats its tenants. Clues? Advice? Directions? Or do I need to brave the tazers and go door to door anyway?:P Anything anyone has to offer will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!
Shane
MH Communities in Michigan: Reputations?
Re: MH Communities in Michigan: Reputations?
I would contact the Michigan Manufactured Housing Association. They are located in Okemos, Michigan.

Thanks Abben! I'll give it a shot, see what I can dredge up.

My advice is to drive through the community you're interested in on a Saturday or Sunday and try to catch people outside where you can question them about the neighborhood. Of course, in Michigan, you may have to wait until June to do this.
I drove through a manufactured home sub-division (where the residents actually own the lots) last summer and stopped at a yard sale one of the home-owners was having. I got lots of information from her and another neighbor who was shopping the yard sale. Then I stopped to chat with a man who was getting his mail out of the mailbox and another person who was washing her car in the driveway. They had all lived there close to a year so I was able to get what I think is a pretty accurate picture of what kind of community it is.
The best information is going to come from the residents of the area you're interested in.
Good luck!
