Hi,

My husband and I are in the process of negotiating with Fleetwood on the price of a 2,500 square foot home and seek guidance. We've been quoted an initial price of $110,000 for a model on the lot they are trying to sell that is, "all decked out."

My question: is this price reasonable? Should we expect a price break for purchasing a model rather than a custom-built home? We have also been told that the company is discontinuing the particular model we are interested in. Would this further warrant some sort of price negotiation? Would we save ourselves money to have a "bare bones" model built rather than buying the lot model that is "decked out"?

Last, how much negotiation should we expect around this process?

One thing is for sure...if the dealership senses that you are stuck on this home...movement will be none..

The only way for you to know if the deal is good..is to shop the area for other similarly equiped and constructed homes in the area...Then make your judgements...

Just be sure when talking price...all items are covered and included in writing...site prep, delivery, underpinning and finace are all part of the price...the base home might be low...but..the other items might be high...get your prices including all services you will need in your area..

Many folks would rather buy out of stock...that way they know exactly what they are getting..Others would rather custom order and pay only for the items they want...skipping those that are not for them...Just preferrence...

One thing for sure...If Fleetwood has discontinued the floor plan..there is only 1 reason...nobody want to buy it...this might help your price negotiations...most likely this home has a large bonus on it for the salesperson and they will work much harder on getting you to buy..
