Opinions on a Clayton/Norris home

Just wanted to get some opinions on a doublewide home I'm looking at. It's a Clayton/Norris Greenbrier 32x80(76) with 3 (optional 4) bedroom, 2 BA, LR, K, DR, & Den. It's a huge, beautiful home and the price is $65, 595, GE appliances, delivery and set-up included in price. It's $28.52 per square foot. 65K is alot for a manufactured home but for the size of it and how nice it is inside, I really don't think it's too bad of a price. What do you guys think?

Hello Mike,

In my books I break down the square footage based on quality construction. Typically a poorly built home will be around $30 per square foot. An average built home $35.00 per square and a quality built manufactured home $40.00 per square foot. From talking to people from around the country I would have to conclude the home you're looking at might be a good looking home but the structural integrity is probably in the poor category. The price is cheap and usually you get what you pay for. I would encourage you to go to the bookstore on this website and check out the resources available to you before you purchase your home.

Actually in our part of the country...the very highest quality homes run about $32/square foot in this huge size..

Good middle quality homes will be about $ 25.00/foot

And the cheapies..about $ 22.00/ foot in this large of home..

Norris is the top of the Clayton line out of TN..A good middle range home...

These big homes are by far the best sellers in the SE..

OK, now I'm confused! :) One says one thing, another says something else. This home is at a sales center in southwest VA, about 15 miles from TN, so it may come from the TN plant, I'm not sure. I've heard nothing about good things from people who have purchased homes from this sales center.
