Homes of Merit Warranty

Sorry I posted this question in the wrong place. I just thought I would re-post it in the correct place.

I was told yesterday that Homes of Merit is about to begin charging a $200 deductible per year on their warranty in August. Is this true? and if so, is it normal? Also, I've been told that Homes of Merit is one of the best built homes in Florida, so why would they need to charge extra to honor their warranty? It seems like a well built home wouldn't require much work.

NOT TRUE....I assume the competition gave you this information...

Homes of Merit does have a 5 year factory protection plan...1 year full warranty with no fees and little restrictions....4 year "protection" plan that covers all of the structure, electrical systems, plumbing systems...virtually all of the important items in the home...Homes of Merit has always had a $ 50 deductable after the first year....

I ordered a home from them last week and we have not recieved any notice of a change of policy...

Small correction....

I check today..

Homes of Merit is in the process of raising the deductable for the last 4 years of the warranty from $ 50 to $ 100..

They make the point the $ 50 deductable started over 10 years ago....Things have gone up..Still the best warranty in the business..
