floors in my new house

Post by tom » Fri Jun 14, 2002 8:55 pm

Got our new home set on our lot and after getting electric on and starting to clean it we found a few problems. The viynl in kitchen has something under it ( nail or screw head maybe) and master bath has a small tear. The carpet in it feels like it has something under it in spots, notice a hard spot when walking in sock feet , and the living room has a small spot in middle where it seems to be a line under carpet that is higher than rest of it like a seam in the pad. What do they generally do about this type of problem? Going to talk to dealer tomorrow. I don't feel that if we move in and they decide to replace it that we should have to move furniture ourselves. I feel that they should do it before we move in or move everything themselves. If not replaced they should at least give us an allowance for future replacemant. Thanks.

These are considered cosmetic problems and should be reported very soon..If your dealer does not do a final walk through....do one yourself and carefully inspect for all possible problems....write them down and pass them on to the dealer in writing...

Smal items under the carpet will not require full replacement...The seam you mention might be normal...Even small cuts in floor tile can be easily repaired..

Good Luck...relax and enjoy your new home...Have fun decorating....
