What is your opinion of Park Model homes? I know the are under 400 sq ft to avoid HUD requirements. Which are quality built? I have looked at information for Silvercrest and Cavco. Seems like Cavco is lower quality...do they make any units worth considering? Also, seems like the price per sq ft is high. Most lack a washer/dryer?

Hello Chuckz,

Sorry for taking so long to respond, it's been a busy two weeks. Most of the park models I have seen have been very nice. Carvo seems to specialize in Park Models and I would have no problems with them. Follow my construction guide in my books and this will help you choose a well-built home.

Thanks for your response. I have both of your publications and have read them thoroughly. As I am looking for a part time home to spend winters in Arizona (escaping from Nebraska) I will have a first hand look at Cavco's units in the near future. I have looked at various mfg double wides including Palm Harbor, Schult, Redman and Cavco. Most of these are quite nice but cost is a big factor here. They would suffice for a full time home but I want to limit my initial costs. Others who may read these messages may want to give their opinion regarding Park Model living.
