Hi Randy and Company,
Randy, I did a search on your Forum and noticed that you strongly reccomend "Hart" homes.
Would you still reccomend them for the New York State area?
I ask this because I have noticed that you posted advice for someone to stay away from Champion in the NY area and was wondering if this would apply to Hart as well.
Regards and thank you,
Phoebe
Hart Homes?
Re: Hart Homes?
Hello Phoebe,
Hart Housing is not associated with Champion. Dutch homes was bought out by Champion. In NY I would recommend, Burlington Homes, I don't know if Hart is in NY but if they are then I would check them out also.

Re: Hart Homes?
Thanks again Randy,
I do understand about the Champion, New York situation. I was just concerned that perhaps Hart might not be as good in New York as in other States (they do distribute here).
Anyway, sorry for my poorly phrased query and thank you for the recc on Hart.
I also have found a company called Maple Leaf Homes out of Canada that distributes in the North East area. They build modular and manufactured homes and all plywood sub-flooring etc. is standard. I will post some of the specs in a query later on down the road.
It is also my understanding (which could be wrong! this is not a declaritive statement) that Canadian builders belong to very strict Building Guilds.
Regards,
Phoebe

Re: Hart Homes?
We have had nothing but trouble with a Hart home purchased in 1996. Huge ice dams, lots of water leaks. The house was not insulated the way it was described nor was the roof area properly ventilated. In addition the windows were not properly insulated between the rough opening and the window frame and jambs. The way the house was constructed has all of the roof loading on the front and back walls going through the ceiling drywall. The ceiling drwall extends right to the outside edge of the top plate of the wall. Hud regulations state that workmanship should be of journeyman quanity. The construction techniques are strange and not at all conventional and all poorly done. They advertise that there are double 2x6 headers over the windows but they neglect to mention that they are flat and not on edge as normally found. Buying a Hart home has cost us thousands of dollars to resolve the problems plus the lost sleep and worry. I would be happy to share my experiences with others. I have reams of documentation and pictures. I wonder if others have been put through the same trials. My above comments just scratch the surface.
