very small in North Carolina

I plan to purchase a very small (less than 1,000 s.f.) manufactured (or maybe modular) home for my property in North Carolina very near the Virginia border.

1) Is there a manufacturer whose homes are particularly appropriate for that climate?

2) Is it important how far away from my property the home was constructed? (I see that the Homes of Merit recommended by Randy is made in Florida.)

4) If I purchase a moderately-priced unit, how long should it be before I regret not spending the big bucks?

Hello GA,

Look at, Palm Harbor, Champion, Commodore and Skyline. Add about $3,500 in structural up-grades and you should be fine.
