Randy,
we are purchacing a Colony home made by Commodore Corp. In response to you saying that certain things are below par concerning construction and standard features.... The nice thing about Colony homes, is that there is a wide variety of homes that they offer in a wide price range. Alot of people can't afford a home with "hardwood cabinets, or "dry wall (Sheet Rock)" they are picking a manufactured home, because stickbuilt is out of there budget. I know from shopping around for 2 years, that Commodore Corp makes different homes. Commodore, Colony and Manorwood. (As you can see on there very well put together home page) we are purchacing a home from the Aurora series. All of the things you mentioned, except for 200 amp service, are standard... 2x6 top, bottom plate, 30 lb roof load, 12" eaves, hardwood cabinets throughout (oak), shut off valves at all sinks and toilets... There are alot of standard features in this home, and even the options that you can get are priced well below that of a stick built home. We have searched many states for the right home, and have been very patient and picky in this process. It was nice to see a manufacturer that builds homes for both homebuyers, those who can get the best in luxery and those who don't have a large budget.
on the flip side, I have contacted the sales rep for our state (DELAWARE) 3 times, because we are interested in touring the Colony plant in Pennsylvania prior to order, and have yet to hear from him. I have left messages specifically stating that we are intending to purchace a home and would like to see how they are built. Have not gotten a response... any suggestions? this is the only thing about commodore and colony that I am not impressed by...
