I have your book & would be thankful for any advice you could provide us.
I have cemical senitivities. Can any mobil homes be built without solvents and formadihides? can partical boad be substituted buy ply wood and can hardwood floors be installed instead of carpet and etc. which makes would be more likely to work with any one with these concerns. Thanks

Hello Eileen,
All homes: modular home, manufactured homes and site built homes will have formadihides. Plywood and particleboard both use glue. It's impossible to build with out using these types of materials. But you can eliminate formadihides by installing hardwood floors after the home has been set-up. In most cases these fumes disapate in two to three weeks after home is set-up. Run the exhust fans during this time to help clear the air.

God. Why don't people tell these unsuspecting consumers about the use of PARTICLE BOARD sub-flooring . T & G Plywood cost more, Uses less phormaldihyde (sp) AND most of all T & G Plywood WILL HOLD UP and LAST LONGER. The house I just unfortunately sold , after 13 years , never gave me a single problem in the floors - My Skyline MH with its particle board after 3 months is buckling, rocking and rolling, and in general - now at the 18 th month - These floors are collapsing. GO through this web site - I've complained about this until I could scream - Particle Board SUCKS
