We have looked at many manufacturer's and models and have selected a home by Skyline that would meet our needs. We plan to place this on our own land on a foundation with a crawl space. We have upgraded the insulation, but not much else. My concern is there is only a one year manufacturer warranty and others offer longer warranties (up to 10 years). Of course the retailer has assured us that this product in rated #1 according to industry standards. Does anyone have any feedback for me as to the quality of this manufacturer or things I should look for?
Thanks.

RE: Skyline Home
Skyline makes a fine home. One year warranty is standard in the industry. Generally speaking, if there is a problem going to develop in a home, it will happen well within the first year. Extended warranties are generally optional cost (not always, though) and have a lot of "gotchas" within the warranty. e.g. Replace items for cost minus wear and tear. Study them carefully.
RE: Skyline Home
Our home came with a five year warranty that we did not have to pay any extra for. I feel much better knowing that if something does go wrong that it is covered under the warranty. Our dealer used to be a dealer for Skyline and stopped claiming that they were not very good homes. Just FYI
RE: Skyline Home
We just purchased a new Skyline home and have been in it for one month. I would rather have a one year warranty from a quality manufacturer (Skyline) than a 10 year warranty from a lower quality product (Champion, Etc.). Skyline will back its product but make sure your dealer does to. Our Dealer, 5 Star, Stanton, Ca. has gone out of its way to make sure everything is to our satisfaction. The white paint on the rear of the home was discolored from the straps that held the brake lites in shipping. They have repainted it completely. There have been no major problems with the home or the setup. Skyline makes a top quality product. You should enjoy it. Good Luck.

RE: Skyline Home
Well! So much for the satisfied home owners. I have a Skyline, year 2000, and very much wish I had the 5 year warranty. My house was built in Pa. , and the people I've dealt with from that factory are not to my liking, nor is the house. I've had nothing but total dissappointment in my Skyline. I used to sell the Skyline Travel Trailers ( Nomad ) and I went head first in to buying one of their ' houses '. Thinking I was getting the same quality AND workmanship which was in every travel trailer. I wish I had never heard of Skyline Manufactured 'House' not a home.Any questions - Contact me - [email protected] P.S. Get Plywood Sub-Flooring. Don't buy a Mfg. House with Particle Board Sub-Flooring..............
RE: Skyline Home
P.S. To say the very least - My experience with Skyline has taught me to look at other housing - Will I ever buy another MH? Not in this or any future life.
