Hi
Thanks for all your help so far. I am looking for a mobile and am about to look at the inside of one. it was built in 1973. It is on a lot in the park of my choice- and is wooded on one side with a babbling brook.(ok, so it s a swamp- but its still cute).
There are two openings in the metal roof. one where the metal roof meets the structure. The other is underneith- where the overhang is. these holes appear to be intentional- like for a drainage pipe or something. I saw bees going into one, so i figure mice and squirrels are not far behind.
there are two tanks at the back of the house. One is old and rusty, the other looks new. I do not know what they are for. There is a vent on the side of the house- I think for a dryer. The house has been patched under this vent- but it doesn't appear that any buckling went on- maybe they screwed up the vent job.
Does anyone have a clue what the holes are? I have pictures if you need to see. They are squared off holes.
Thanks so much
Terrie
what are these openings on the roof?
RE: what are these openings on the roof?
I am not sure what the holes are, but I'd be very careful buying a 73 mobile home. For one thing, they are available in some parts of the country absolutely free--dealers cannot sell them and if you simply move them, you can have them for nothing. I've seen this happen in central Illinois quite often. But my big problem with a home that old is the fact that the HUD codes were different back then. I think the newer homes are constructed better, are higher quality, and are safer. I would not live in a home built before, say, 1990--it has nothing to do with how old the home is, but because the homes before that date were not all that great.
