Hi,
I we purchase a mobil home and put it in a park where we are renting the space does the purchase/financing of the mobil/manufactured home count as a "first time home buyer"? What I mean is if we apply to buy a home in say 5 years could we get first time home buyers assistance? And if getting a mobil home now is considered owning property, are there first time home buyers programs avalible?
Thank you any one who answers.
Minda

Buying a MH, which is located on rented property, does not count as a home purchase under "first time buyers" program. A MH on rented land is considered personal property, not real estate.

To check on first time buyer programs with respect to MH land/home packages, talk to a local bank loan officer and ask about "first time buyer" programs they have available, if any. Most banks have accesss to the federal loan guarantee programs called "Freddie Mac" and "Fannie Mae." Ask about these programs and if they apply to MH land/home packages. Also contact your local United Way office and ask if any of the agencies they fund have "first time home" buyer programs.
