Which way now?
Which way now?
I am looking forward to putting a manufactured home in coastal South Carolina. I want to put the best quality home for the money. I am down to Homestead, Horton, Homes of Merit, and Norris by Clayton. Are these homes of about the same quality; and if they are is the next thing I do is go to the Better Business Bureau to check any set up or service complaints. Thanks.
RE: Hope this helps
Hello Bobby,
It sounds like your doing your homework. The link to the Better Business Bureau is, http://www.bbb.org/
Here are some features in construction you should consider before you buy:
2x6 exterior walls 16” on center
Double or triple pane vinyl windows
Energy saving installation packages
2x8 floors… not necessary but recommended
Plywood sheathing if budget allows
Headers above exterior windows and doors
2x6 top and bottom plates on exterior walls
Electrical out-lets secured to wall studs not sheet-rock
Taped & textured through-out, ½” sheet rock or 5/8”
Quality plumbing fixtures with shut off valves at each fixture
Solid wood cabinets, oak, maple or pine
Transverse floor system
