What are the pros and cons of putting a Manufactured Home over a basement that would later be finished as a playroom for the children? Most seem to be on concrete slabs but in the cold North a basement seems a better idea. Comments?
Basement
RE: Basement
Hello Maggie,
Thats a good question. If you’re planning on setting your home on a basement you will need to order your MFG home, basement ready or foundation ready. Basements can be complicated. Talk with the engineers at the manufacturer and work closely with them. A general contractor who has had experience installing basements under manufactured homes is a must. Your retailer should have names of qualified contractors in your area. Every basement is different and will usually require an engineer drawing. I would deal with a retailer who has done this before and has an experienced contractor who can do the work. The pro is it's a cheap way to double your sqf. The con is, it requires an experience contractor and retailer to help you through it. I hope this helps.
