Homelite mobile home?

Hello,

I am in the process of trying to buy a mobile home, but the seller threw out the HUD tag. Without it, I can't get financed. The appraiser wrote that it was a "Homelite" mobile home, and the county clerk has that it was built in 1977. However, when trying to use IBTS to issue a certifcation in lieu of the HUD tag, they searched the serial number under "Skyline/Homette" and said that that indicated that it was built in 1976 -i.e. -in un-financable time. I am wanting to make a case that they are searching in the wrong manufacturer, but there is next to no information online about "Homelite" as a manufacturer. Does anyone have any information about their existance?

Homelite is likely a misidentification. The correct manufacturer is probably Homette, associated with Skyline. If IBTS shows it was built in 1976, it may not meet HUD standards for financing. You can try searching county records or contacting Skyline for clarification.
