to Wes,

Get a quote from a local contractor. There's lots of them around these parts. I'm in Humboldt county as well, and looking for a manufactured home. I found the Palm Harbor guy to be really overpriced. Very nice guy and all, but way too much money.

Dan,
Thanks. I feel the same way: the Palm Harbor dealer is extemely friendly, but his prices are pretty high. I checked in Medford, Chico, and Anderson and the Arcata owner is a bit higher than them, but not much. Many people here in the valley (Hoopa) have been getting Fleetwoods from Executive Homes in Redding. They are alot cheaper, even if you upgrade them to the max, than Palm Harbor.
Alpine Homes in Medford sells Fleetwoods as well. The fella I talked to, John Green, has sold about five homes to people in the valley within the last year. I talked to them all and they rate the whole process about a "B."
Personally, I really like the Fuqua homes. They look and feel like a stick built home. The roof pitch is nice. Only problem is that they are expensive. I might go to Medford this weekend to check out my last Fuqua dealer; if it does not work out, I will check out Fleetwood again.
Good luck!
