Well, I truely wanted the turn-key convenience of manufactured, but like I said in a few earlier posts, things first got wierd with financing and then negotiations started breaking down with local dealers, although we did talk to one gentleman who had a small dealership that he was also the lead salesperson for who was a honest as they come. We're going to move the Gallitan over and live in it while the building process is going on, so we have as long as it takes. Gallitan and land are paid for, so we're not in a hurry, although I'm now getting nervous about the rise of interest rates. None of this is for the faint hearted.

What's Up With Singlewide Pricing???
Re: What's Up With Singlewide Pricing???
You said.."Every mobile home salesperson seems to have gone to the same training classes "....Actually you are right about ALL PH salespersons..They have gone to the same sales course...and...the procedure is company policy...if a salesperson deviates from the policy...and you were a paid shopper...his/her job would be on the line...
Buy the way...Clayton, Champion, Fleetwood and PH are basically on the same sales system....
you said.."EVERY SALESPERSON STARTED OUT WITH PALM HARBOR!"
In Texas..PH rules...It is not uncommon for new persons to start in the industry at a large corporate store and move on in a year or two.....Some independent dealers suggest to newcomers to go to work for a chain the first few years...just to get the good training they offer...then move on to others...
If PH is such a problem...check out other manufacturers that will have as good or better construction specs....I must caution you though...very high quality singles are expensive...40's would not be unusual...and in TX..where land is available...there will not be many in stock at dealers because the double section..land home finance is such an advantage...Try looking at small doubles..about 1200 sq feet...They will be about the same price as similarly equipped singles...
