Yes, I've read all those threads, but they all seem to be around the same time frame: 2005-2006. The newest posts are dated 2007, so I was wondering if this company is now on the straight and narrow, or should I move on with my search for a home?

Re: Quality Wholsale Homes
Move on to a dealer located near your delivery location..Find one that does not deal in deceptive tactics and lies....They are still there because folks like you keep falling for the story and give them money. You might notice just above your post there is one posted 2/08 with another sad story..Move on..
Re: Quality Wholsale Homes
I'll agree with rmurray on this one. If the price doesn't include delivery & set-up, it may not be a bargain. From reading all the posts, I have yet to see a positive one on QWH, yet I see quite a number of negative.
Our dealership has severed relationships with several manufacturers based on an inability (or lack of desire) to provide quality after-the-sale service. We have an exclusive relationship with Cavco Durango now. They offer a home that has a similar layout to the Designer by Fleetwood, but we are sold on the quality of construction and material used to construct the home.
The business model of QWH baffles me a bit. I would be happy to sell homes all day long with no delivery, set-up, service, etc. to be concerned with (If I could sleep at night).
Make sure you have an apples for apples price comparison...completed! Delivery, set-up, drywall completion, carpet installation, HVAC needs, all part of the transaction. Will you have a foundation? Site prep? Who will complete it? What is the cost? We have spent years developing relationships that allow us a comfort level in putting licensed contractors that we trust on a job knowing that it will be completed in timely workmanlike fashion.
If you really want to purchase a home under the business model promoted by QWH (Do it Yourself), I'll be happy to quote you a price based on a more "hands off" approach...but I will still have it delivered and set-up (at the very least) by reliable Arizona licensed companies that I trust. We even negotiate prices with the company that we most commonly use for our set-ups just so we can be more competitve with pricing...but we don't just quote a price without those necessities, I find that very deceptive. This industry has faced enough challenges through deceptive business practices without having dealers that would assume that anybody should be able to put the homes together according to local and state code, and prove to the local permitting municipality that utilities were connected according to local requirements.

Re: Quality Wholsale Homes
Hi Phil,
Congratulations on your position with Silver Ridge Homes. It is wise to get your name out in the industry and I see you have many posts here recently. The reality is that our model is truly not much different than yours. While there is obviously a significant difference in the amount of Volume that we do vs your independant lot there in AZ the true reality lies in the fact that you do the same as us. You do not do your own building or your own setup or your own site work etc. You sub contract it like we do. Your "do it yourself" comment is merely a half truth. I dont do it, you dont do it and neither does the customer. We both have established strong networks of contractors and service personnell to cater to our customers projects. While we do offer a glimpse at the base price of all of our models (the only website I have found to post pricing actually is ours) we then proceed to develop complete project pricing for our customers. In fact I would venture to say we use the same contractors as you in AZ for both transport and set up as well as site prep and permitting. The difference is my connections extend throughout the West coast as well as into the central US where our Texas headquarters operates. I am sure you do a great job at what you do but one thing that our entire company of over 60 Employees is taught from the beginning is this " He who must run down the competition to improve his position has forgotten the value of Quality, reputation and low prices."

Re: Quality Wholsale Homes
I have spoken to Quality Wholesale Homes in the last few months, and decided not to use them because they were very, very high pressure. They wanted me to sign a sales contract and put a deposit down before they would even start looking for a plat of land for me to put the home on, and I hadn't even picked out a model. The owner even told me that to be able to afford a higher mortgage payment I should claim 2 dependents on my W-2 form and I wouldn't have to worry about owing the IRS because I could take the interest off my taxes. And the sales contract said I could only get my deposit back if I canceled it within 3 days, and they could keep whatever amount they wanted for "operational costs".
I looked on the BBB website and on ripoff.com, and there were a lot of negative experiences related on both websites.

Re: Quality Wholsale Homes
I really wish i found this website a year ago, then i wouldn't be out $5000.! I got talk into the "the price is going up" so to lock in your price send us $5000. I sent it in Aug of 2007 thinking that we would be able to get our home shortly after that. Well here we are a year later and are still unable to get the home because I don't have a job and we don't quailfy for a loan anymore. I started sending emails to get our money back because we were told that it was only to hold the price, now all they do is keep quoting the back of the contract (which i never signed) and saying we have 3 options. 1 is to give the money to someone else that wants to buy, 2 extent the contract or 3 tell in writing why we should be let out of our contract. I have sent 2 registered letters saying we don't have money and might have to sell the property to live and talked on the phone. ( well I left messages 2 time that were never returned and was only able to get Kathy on the phone when i blocked my number so she would answer) Now all they do is keep sending my emails quoting the back and asking what we want to do. I have already told them what i want to do!! I would like to know if anyone has talked to a lawyer about this or even started a case against them. i called the Division of consumer protection in Utah at this number 801 530 6601. and left a message and plan on filing a complaint with the BBB. I have this feeling I just lost $5000 to these people and im not happy.
Re: Quality Wholsale Homes
I am currently looking for a Manufactured home. I have been in contact with several dealers one being QW Homes.I know with every company their are customers that are unsatisfied. But I would like to know about someone who has received a home and the quality of it. I am looking at the Belmont Series Model 21-7765B. Can anyone tell me about their experiences once they received a home. Did they do everything they stated about preparing the land? What about the loan and helping with the credit did that actually happen? I have 3 attorney's in my family 2 in real estate law. My mother in law has been an executive with HUD for 20+ years. SO, deposit is not a worry I want to know about finished product. I believe that with every business you will find people unhappy. So, is their anybody out there that is Happy?
Re: Quality Wholsale Homes
I will only say this...this dealer of all the thousands in the country has gotten scores of posts from unhappy customers. This company was first mentioned in a post 9/29/2001 and has had 82 other posts, much more active discussions than ANY other topic here ever. Most of the posts have been from unhappy customers and some have been from company representatives themselves. Go to the top of this column and use the search function..remember to search all dates available..Read to your hearts content..
Most of the negative posts have been about undelivered product, misrepresentation as a manufacturer instead of dealer, and misrepresentation of final cost to include delivery, set, a/c, underpinning, steps etc. As far as the Quality itself, you understand they will be selling you a Fleetwood home built in Riverside, CA. If you research your state's consumer affairs office and manufactured home office for complaints and resolution of this product you will find your answer. Your IP address implies you are in the LA area. You should e-mail the poster who started this recent thread. From what I know she IS in your area and has had an interesting experience;

Re: Quality Wholsale Homes
We were swindled out of $5000 by DSH/aka Quality Wholesale Homes. After learning that we were just one of numerous victims, we took our case up with some attorneys asking to file a class action. We were told that they believe DSH pockets are not deep enough to justify a class action. We took our complaint up with BBB Arbitration to provide relief to help all victims of the DSH swindle.
We received the arbitrator's decision which forced DSH to return our deposits within 10 days. If you are a victim of the DSH deposit keeping swindle, we encourage you to take the following steps to help expose this scam and fight to get your money back.
Step 1) File a complaint with Utah Better Business Bureau here:
https://odr.bbb.org/odrweb/public/GetStarted.aspx
When you receive an answer from DSH, unless you are offered 100% refund (and you actually receive your money) let the BBB know you wish to use their NO COST arbitration service to settle your case. No matter how long it takes, DON'T GIVE UP or settle for anything less than 100% refund, and don't sign any more agreements or settlements that's DSH may offer you. DSH will most likely respond to your BBB complaint with a threat to sue you if you choose arbitration. Don't let this scare you into signing any settlement with them.
Step 2) Report this Scam to the BBB (yes, you were swindled by con-artists, just one of hundreds of their victims this year). If you're in doubt, we will send you a list of email addresses and/or phone numbers to contact some of the other victims.
http://utah.app.bbb.org/scamreport
Step 3) File your complaint with Utah Attorney General, Office of consumer protection here:
http://consumerprotection.utah.gov/comp ... index.html
You may receive a response that your complaint is a contract issue, not a criminal issue. But sooner or later the Attorney General will wake up and start to pay attention to all the complaints submitted by victims of DSH. Focus your complaint on the high pressure, deceptive, misleading and unconcionable sales and business practices of DSH, especially the fact that their refund policy was not disclosed to you and/or that you were "guaranteed financing" when you signed it. You may download our case files, including our arbitrators decision that may help you with yours at: http://loveusa.com/scam
File your complaint with your State's Attorney General. The list of State Attorney General's contact is at http://www.naag.org
Step 4) File your complaint with the Federal Trade Commission:
https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov
Step 5) Post your story on the Complaints Board, The Ripoff Report and this Manufactured Housing Forum, encouraging other victims to tell their stories about their experiences with this company:
http://www.ripoffreport.com
http://www.complaintsboard.com
http://Mfdhousing.com (forums)
Step 6) Tell your story to Kerry Kinsley, a TV reporter for ABC news Utah (channel 4). His email address is: [email protected]
Hopefully he'll investigate the DSH scams and run a news story to warn others about it.
You are welcome to use our court testimony and arbitrators decision as evidence to help you with yours. If you need any additional support documents or other victim's affidavits or contact information, please feel free to contact us.
More importantly, be sure to tell at least 10 of your friends about what happened to you, and tell them to spread the word that DSH Housing, aka Quality Wholesale Homes, aka Dave Higbee and Brock Henninging are to be boycotted until their either forced to be honest or put out of business for good.
