Sorry for the delay in responding. While I am not a daily follower of the blogs listed on mfd I do frequent the site on a weekly basis and enjoy the education and the services offered. In reference to Mr Salto's question the caution put in place is warranted. In the past the general consensus of many internet and out of state dealers has been to build a home and sell it to the end user and let that customer deal with the issues of installation, site prep, permitting etc. However we have realized the need to be involved thoroughly with our customers projects and act more as "Project Managers" handling the customers project from start to finish, including finding for the customer qualified approved contractors, transporters, and set up crews who will see to it that the end result is a well built, well installed home and a happy customer. Those that have recently thrown up a website or placed an ad to try and prey on the unfortunate natural disaster victims are certainly less than human, but those of us who have been around for years are certainly more concerned about the end picture. While you may see a few posts here on this site referencing us I have said in the past that I wish all those who were satisfied would post but they are busy enjoying their new homes. With thousands of new leads a month we certainly satisfy a lot more customers than is necessarily reflected on some of these posts.

Referencing State licensing laws it is most certainly not illegal for us to sell homes into California nor is it illegal for you to purchase them from us.

Tony, the homes you viewed in Stonegate are a mix of several homes from several factories not just Riverside CA and if I may, you are more than welcome to apply for a dealers license, however it is certainly more involved than the previous couple posts suggest. According to RMurray all you need is a dealers license to buy from a builder....perhaps RMurray you can elaborate a bit more so Mr Salto can have an accurate picture of the process and procedures for not only obtaining a dealers license but also the intrinsic relationship between the dealer and the builder, warranty, etc. Tony I would recommend obviously that you "Wet your feet" so to speak and do a couple projects to see how it works out before you jump and prior to wasting a lot of time and resources on something you may well decide you are not interested in pursuing further......Best of Luck!!!

Well Mark business must be good..This thread has been here for 36 months during the hardest time in the housing business and you are still at it...Glad to hear that..

You are right..I was a little too simplistic when I mentioned to just get a license and move forward...The CA license process is described in this state doc:

http://www.hcd.ca.gov/codes/ol/OLApprov ... yGuide.pdf

I wondered if the Tony realized he had to get a license to even do his project..This is all the more reason he should join the CA dealer association..Most often they are helpful in guidance through the legal maze of state government. If Tony intends to offer homes for sale he will have to go through the process anyway..Then he will be able to take his license and money directly to a factory to buy direct..
Glad you stop in from time to time..Hope business stays strong for you..
