My husband and I are looking to replace the 1963 trailer that we have on our 1/2 acre lot with a new manufactured home. We would like to buy a smaller home (1300-1400 sq ft), but we want a high quality home. I visited our local dealers a few months ago and fell in love with a Nashua floor plan. Today, I returned to the dealer to inquire about different options and upgrades to the Nashuas, but the saleswoman told me they were trying not to sell those anymore and to look at the Fleetwoods instead. I've done some research on the different manufacturers. and I have to say, I am not impressed with Fleetwood. Looking over the "standard" features list and comparing it to the Nashua list I have, the Fleetwood is inferior in almost every category. I then inquired with the saleswoman about the Guerdon modulars on their lot, and she basically implied that they were too expensive for us. I left with a bad taste in my mouth. The problem is I don't really like either of the other dealers near us either. I know too many people who have had lots of problems with them before and after the sale. In addition, the homes at one dealer are crap, and although the other dealer has better homes, I've actually heard more nightmare stories about them. The next closest dealers to us are a minimum of 150 miles away and I worry about the service that they can provide, but I will buy elsewhere if I have to.
Since I will probably be leaving the area to buy a home, can anyone recommend a dealer in Montana/Idaho/Wyoming (I'm outside of Bozeman, MT) that sells quality homes?
Sorry for the long message, I'm just so frustrated by this process and anxious to get out of my trailer!

Take a look in the Manufactured Housing Yellow Pages for dealers in your part of the country

You are doing this right...150 to 250 miles away in your area would not be unusual ( is not everything that far away)...A good dealer will refuse to sell you if you are too far for him to service....
Why not call the sales manager at Nashua and ask about the next closest dealer. The comments of your local dealer might well interest him...
GOOD LUCK and stop back here often...
