leveling a new home

Post by dpfeif » Sun Aug 06, 2006 5:05 pm

am buying a Solitaire, how level should the home be after the crew is finished?
i.e. if I double check the setup with a water level, what is the +/- range from
absolute level that is acceptable so that the home will not have problems caused by improper leveling setup?......thanks.

A new home should be fairly level....Use a water level to be sure tops of the piers are no more than 1" from each other..that would allow 1" hard wood wedge to be driven in and hold the house tight..The ground should be slightly humped under the home to be sure water does not run under it...

Check your set up manual for all specific setup requirements.....The design engineers expect all requirements to be done..to be sure the home will have a stable foundation....

How to determine if home is level

Post by admin » Sat Aug 12, 2006 5:52 pm

For details about checking the level of your home see the article we added to the repair secion of this web site last week. Is your manufactured home unlevel? by Mark Bower

If you "determined that your house is out of level, you should have it releveled as soon as possible. An unlevel home may be putting undue stress on certain areas of your house, which in the long run could cause damage."
