This sounds selfish but since my home is in the process of being built as we speak, I wonder if there will be a delay? This Tuesday makes four weeks and the dealer said it general takes about five weeks from start to finish, however, she wondered if the hurricane would cause 'regular' orders to be placed on a backburner.

Lumber futures are not that bad yet so you should be OK. It will take several weeks or even months before the impact is really felt and the futures market is the best indicator of what prices are going to do. Affordable housing will be in great demand and this is good for the MH industry but perhaps not for the buyer because of higher costs. There will be sharks who will try to get you to buy now and avoid the rush, pay more than you should and decide in haste (I do not mean Mr. Murray because he seems to operate above board). If you were told five weeks and it is four you should be fine because even though the government will operate without a plan as they are great at it will still take them some time to throw enough money at it to cause shortages.

Your price should not be at risk....But your dealer should by now have a delivery date for your home..plus or minus a few days....

Haulers are getting hard to find..delaying some homes a few days..they are all busy moving thousands of home for FEMA...

We have already had fuel surcharges of about $200 per florr..per move...doubles are up about $800 in ths last week..we have also been warned about some shortages in some building products....Last year building products increased by about 10%..this hurricane has about 100 times of destroyed homes as last year.....Futures mean little if there is no supply...

THe law of supply and demand will go by the board first. FEMA and associated agencies (truckers, haulers and local contractors) will all be busy cleaning for weeks. Immediate needs will be met by the closest and the readily available housing. Manufactured homes circa 2006 and beyound into early 2007 will be higher in cost because the city residents will be trying to return. You can also lookd for increases in population in outlying cities, villages, towns nearby NO. I can see that the industry will get a tremendous boost in popularity and in oders. So to close, the next 18-24 months should be good for you all.

They are not taking any homes that are not new. I have been looking and they seem to only be looking to buy new ones.
