Industry regulation

Post by James Taft » Mon Aug 23, 2004 9:20 am

Three months ago I bought an existing MH from Taylor Made Homes in Homosassa, Florida.
I paid cash for the home and set up including impact fees, septic , a/c, electric, steps, etc,
Repeatedly I telephoned for assurance that the home could be delivered and set up in a timely fashion and was given assurance that there was no problem. I sold my condo and moved to the ranch. The MH is not finished ( it was left without all the tie downs and open doors and windows with Charlie hurricane warnings 8/13/04 ) and now I've been HOMELESS for TEN days with no end in sight.
Is there no industry regulation of these lying dealers ?
I am a disabled senior spending more than I want to for motels and meals I'm getting sicker each day and all they give me is failed promises.
Call me at the Days In In Crystal River 850-795-2111 rm 111 or my cell 850-819-3372 if you have any suggestions. I'm praying for control of my violent nature.

There is lots of regulation in Florida...

The direct control of set ups and construction violations can be helped by calling..

Mr. John R. McDonald, Chief
Bureau of Mobile Homes and R.V.
Division of Motor Vehicles
Neil Kirkman Building
2900 Apalachee Pkwy., Room A-129
Tallahassee, FL 32399-0640
(904) 488-8600
FAX: (904) 488-7053077

The there is the license of the dealer..this is regulated by the Department of Hwy Safety and Motor Vehicles ...dealer license department...

There is also a license for the installer who left your home in this shape...

Go to this web site for links to all the agencies involved..

http://www.hsmv.state.fl.us/mobilehome/

Links to file complaints are there...

Also...you might want to be talking to the insurance commissioner...Your insurance was not in force and you were at great risk...the law in Florida forbids binding coverage while a hurricane is in the area..

Good Luck
