Sounds like a pretty good deal to me....plus you seem to understand you will want to upgrade some..
I saw your post in the other forum and the answer the webmaster here made...Beside owning this site..he has been in the rental and used home business for many years...He has had to deal with these floors a lot and has given some really good ideas on how to defeat the problem...Since you are replacing all the carpet anyway...prudent floor prep is called for...
David was being a little polite...For those of us that have seen thousands of used homes..we all know the worse situation is press board and cats...If for some reason a cat misses the litter box....cat urine soaks into the press board and causes huge problems...a good reason to find some close out vinyl floor covering..even damaged is fine..to cover the whole floor...
Go for it..Good Luck
Signing contract on Oakwood Foreclosure - help?
Re: ONE MORE THING
Did I mention we have dogs (2) and cats (10)??
We are DEFINITELY going to vinyl the entire house... we MAY put down the exisiting carpeting (there are several rooms where it is in good shape) with new pad... down on top of that.
This will give us a chance to inspect all the floorboard (except in the kitchen, utility room and 2 bathrooms) from the topside as well as from underneath the home.
We are debating on whether to put down carpeting (as described above) or simply keep it vinyl with a few area rugs.... with all the pets
You are absolutely right about what a horrible thing that would be with cats/dogs and pressboard... I really don't want to experience that!!!
Starting inspections this week. Arranging for bug inspection and heating/a/c and general underneath inspection to happen in the next few days.
Can't believe this place is 1800 square feet.
Thanks again
JJ and Kim
