It had a couple of box-bay windows on the front and a small porch on the end, which was opened to the master BR. I saw pictures of it on the web site...it was the one with the big white columns around the tub in the master bath. It had the 7' sidewalls, though, and those ugly walls with the strip running down them. And I didn't care for the floor plan. It was also 78,995, which I thought was a little high for the quality.
The saleslady pointed out another Indies House that wasn't put together yet. She said they had gotten it at "the show" for a good price and that it had the 8' sidewalls, 2x6 walls, 22/19/28 insulation, thermopane windows, finished sheetrock, maple kitchen cabinets, porcelain lavs, ceramic edging and backsplash (the other one had that, too...it looks nice), etc. She also said it had a wide baseboard molding. It was also 78,995! She said she didn't know why except she guess that they had really gotten a deal on it. It is the one with the sunken kitchen...I'm thinking I saw some pictures of that on their web site, too.
Do these prices seem high? Compared to what Jason or Johnny (can't remember who it was!) paid, it does to me. Of course, these were 32x80s and I believe he said his was a 28. But a salesman once told me it only costs about 5,000 more to go from 28 to 32.
I'm going to go back and look at it to see what the sheetrock, cabinets, etc. look like, but I don't like the floorplan (of course!). I'm still leaning toward designing my own floor plan, but I have a feeling, based on their "stock" prices, it would cost me big bucks to do so!

Also, you want to shop around for dealers. I didn't buy the home yet, only got a
quote on it.... from 3 different dealers for the same plan. About 8K difference from
the top to the bottom. You have to remember that every dealer is going to have
a different markup on the home, setup fees, delivery charges, etc. Randy's book
has a section on markups which you might want to review. That's what I used as
a guideline for getting the best price.
Indies adds on about 3 - 4K for finished sheetrock t/o. So, just do the math, and
try another dealer or 2. If you want to find them just call the sales dept. at Indies,
and they will tell you where they are.
good luck

I am on the hunt for the same house with the sunken kitchen. I think this is a beautiful home but the price of the one I have found here in Louisiana is at the lowest 83,000. The dealer had it priced at 87,995. I think that this dealer is a rip off and I am just wondering if anyone knows if you can buy direct from the factory, since there is only one factory, and maybe I can get the price lower. The quality of this house I have seen is great but, the price well you know TOO HIGH. If any one knows any dealers of Indies houses in the Louisiana area please let me know. Thanks!!
