Floor Decking
Floor Decking
Has you ever heard of Marine decking? It is used in navy ships, it is not suppose to warp and it is waterproof. The home I'am considering offers this type of decking.
Re: Floor Decking
Sounds awful unusual...sounds like someone passing off pressboard as a good floor..
What manufacturer are you refering to.??..Are these statements in the manufacturers literature...or are they the statements of a salesperson???
In my many years..I have never heard of anything like this...of course there is always something new coming out..I would like to learn more..

Re: Floor Decking
Yes, it was just a statement of a VERY misleading salesperson. We have choose not to deal with this company due to there inconsistancy in telling the TRUTH!!!
Iam so disappointed in so many companys trying to mislead people. We we looking at a manufactued home, but we might try looking a modulars. It is hard to tell my head is spinning from all the reshearch I have done. Can you recommend a manufactured home in this area, in case the modular dosent work out. I live in SE Kansas. Thanks

Re: Floor Decking
If they are talking about marine grade plywood than you can't beat it but I would have them certify it first because it makes any other floor look cheap and I can't see how they would spend that kind of money. You have plants close to you to visit, Fuqua by Columbia Missouri, Heritage American in Sikeston MO, Solitaire in Duncan, OK and one built in Kansas that I can't remember. Find a dealer you like and trust (probably the most time consuming part of the shopping) find a home that you like and ask a ton of questions. Modular's in your part of the country are hard to find because housing is still reasonable and so is property.
Re: Floor Decking
There's Liberty Homes in Yoder, KS, which is just outside of Hutchinson. I went to their factory for a visit. They seem to be put together pretty good. Be sure to specify that you want plywood and not pressed wood. It helps to do the research. However, I ended up going with Dutch Housing, out of Indiana. Champion & Dutch offer a 10 year warranty and Liberty only offered a 5 year.
Re: Floor Decking
The decks on navy ships are steel. Than they are spray coated with a hard rubber like material called PRC (do not remember what the PRC stands for). After it is dry it is coated with a clear sealer that holds a shine for a long time. For high traffic areas like a ship this is a good deck covering material that is virtually maint free, all you do is sweep and swab. It would be good for laundry or pantry areas. However this material is highly toxic when it burns. I left the Navy 2 years ago so they may have changed it a little bit, but compared to the tile we use to have to maintain (strip/wax/buff) this new decking is really good. hope this helps. chris.
