Negotiating a final price

Post by Tree » Sat Mar 08, 2003 9:34 pm

We have found the floor plan we want under the Nashua dealer. Base was around $68,000 and now with options, delivery and tax, it's up to $82,000.00. We still have to have a bid on the foundation and set up. I estimate another $20,000. When do we start to negotiate and how do we go about doing this? What is the basic mark up on modular homes (new)? We did put a $100 deposit down and a first write up, so we can present it to the lender. Did we miss our shot? We haven't ordered it yet. Any suggestions would be of help. Thank you.

Call another dealer who offers the same home, ask them the base on the home you are purchasing. Then if it is higher ask them to beat what you have. take the better price to your dealer and let them know you can get the home somewhere else for less money. This is what I did and it worked. I even had the competition send me a price via fax so I could show my dealer I was serious.
