Most homes have the electrical outlet boxes with tabs that hold it to the sheetrock and are not nailed to a stud.

Is anyone having any problems when they are not nailed? Do the boxes tend to put through the drywall?

You should try to get them nailed to the studs...or at least built with a backing in addition to the sheetrock...Often scape panal pieces are used behind the sheetrock..This acts like a washer making the boxes much more likely to not pull through the walls...
