My wife and I looked at a skyline "Fairview 26" It was great we loved it.
2518 sq ft nice big window, ETC. The price is nice too $120,000 delivered & set.
Then we looked at a Silvercrest Manor Estate series M07. This is even nicer in some ways - Bigger windows, even higher ceilings, etc. 2595 sqft. What is shocking to me is the price difference the Base MSRP on this unit was $150,000
No set up or delivery. with all the options ($58,000) the lot model was asking $208,000.
I figure Set-up& delivery at around $10,000 so that makes the base silvercrest around $40,000 more than a reasonably well optioned out Skyline of basically the same model.
Anybody have any pricing reference on this? The silvercrest just seems absurdly high to me.
The only structural difference that I know of is 2x6 ext walls on silvercrest. But I can upgrade to that for less than $2000 on the Skyline. Randys book says upgarding skyline to "Quality Construction" would be about $6500 so what am I missing?
If anyone can explain this (Randy) please let me know.
Thank You

Also I toured the Silvercrest plant on Saturday.
And for all of the talk that I have heard about Silvercrest quality I must say that I was not overly impressed with the tour.
For one thing almost every piece of lumber in the Floorjoists, and walls was knotted out, and looked like hell. the lumber quility was VERY LOW!

Bigd,
Hello, yes you could be right about that. Since Champion Home Builders acquired Silvercrest they have been cutting corners. The company Silvercrest isn't the company it used to be. They are beginning to use cheaper materials in their homes and the quality isn't their anymore.

Aso Silvercrest doesn't offer plywood flooring which Skyline offers. Novadeck or Cresdeck are two products to stay away from.

In the mid-eastern states, I have not found a manufacturer, including Skyline, which offers plywood flooring. Of all of my looking and shopping around, what ever the material is ,Novadeck or whatever, is what you get; none of the dealers which I have spoken with in Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, or Pa. will build and give you an option for the sub floor material.
