They aren't built in Texas but they are SOLD in Texas....and that is the homes built by the Karsten Co. in Albuquerque. They are the best by far. Comparable to site-builts....better than lots of the new ones. They have a website:
www.thekarstenco.com

Hello, The quality builders in Texas are Solitaire, Patriot and Palm Harbor. For the mid-range buyer I would focus on Schults, Karsten, Champion and Carvo.

The Karsten home we saw today was second only to a couple of Hallmark Southwest homes we've seen. This was a Series 2700 from Karsten at about $93K. The floor plan and architectural details surpass many condos and townhomes. As rock solid and quiet as the Hallmark. I would give the Hallmark better exterior points (wide eaves, dormers, finish etc.)

Living in S.California, my problem with a Karsten would be the high cost of shipping it from Sacramento. Plus, we hope we'll be able to find a factory within two hours of us for previewing and possible inspection during construction of our home.

Wow, I cannot beleive you could possibly rate a Solitaire above a Karsten. Solitaires have fallen off from what they once were and the construction standards are nowhere near a Karsten! Just go and look at one and then the other and you will see the difference. Karsten is one of, if not THE premiere MH available.
