osb vs. plywood
osb vs. plywood
ok randy--bottom line. In a doublewide, should I only consider plywood subflooring or is osb ok??
Re: osb vs. plywood
OSB! A poor replacement for the good plywood we've all used for years. Not as bad as "particle board" which uses names like NOVADeck and a few other names. If it looks like particle board, IT IS. Need more info on my Skyline HUD Shack with particle board floors? [email protected]
Re: osb vs. plywood
There are many plywoods used in homes in the SE...The best is 3/4" tongue and grooved floor decking...All to many manufacturers option or are standard with 5/8" grade C plywood...This is finished on 1 side and has knot holes that sometimes can become problems..
OSB is usually much larger sheets and have many less areas for floor seams to develope..It is usually covered with a long term warranty and is nearly water proof..(except the cut edges..they should be sealed with water sealer)..It is also commonly used in roofs and as sheating on the outside of the exterior studs..
Better is in the eye of the beholder..I would say that 3/4" plywood is stronger and at least as duable..I am not so sure about the 5/8" plywood commonly used..
