Sorry I was unable to post as a reply...I kept getting server hangup notice...

Randy

As a long time retail dealer...I agree with this statement whole heartedly....

This brings to mind something else.....In the original tread on this subject, you expressed surprise that Palm Harbor was using this product...You are the author of the book being touted here....

A comparison guide book would be very hard to actually be very useful...since all plants change things on a very regular basis....I have not yet seen your book...so I cannot directly comment but..the whole idea of an accurate comparison guide seems impossible...

Examples from some of the product that we handle....Cavalier (we are one of their largest single lot dealers) has changed their whole product line 4 times in the last year...They have done away with all the product that they offered only 6 months ago and added a basic home with whole lots of features...They have discontinued ALL model lines that they built before..

Home of Merit...they have 8 plants in Florida..The 2 that we buy from have 3 much different lines....All three have very different basic construction...One of the lines (the Forest Manor) used to be only 15 months ago...the very top of their product...now it is the very bottom..It has gone to 2x3 interier walls on 24 inch centers...Until a year ago..nothing was ever built in these plants like this..

I could go on and on with the other lines we handle..Horton, Southern Lifestyle, Indies and Jacobson....but I think the point is made...How can a printed comparison book ever keep up with the current state of product in every plant in the USA????
